Cookie policy (EU): navigating your consent choices
Cookie Policy (EU)
Last updated: 2 November 2026
This policy explains how the website of our spatial cognition research laboratory at the Department of Psychology, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, uses cookies and similar technologies. It follows the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), the GDPR, and the Italian Data Protection Authority's Cookie Guidelines of 10 June 2021.
In short
- No advertising, marketing or analytics trackers.
- Only one optional category: functional cookies for page translation.
- Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and you can change your mind at any time.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as the browser's local storage, work in the same way and are covered by this policy.
Cookies and storage we use
| Name | Category | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| scl-consent-v1 (local storage) | Strictly necessary | This site | Stores your cookie choice so we don't ask on every page | Until you change it or clear your browser |
| googtrans | Functional (optional) | This site / Google | Remembers the language you chose in the translator | Session |
| Google Translate cookies and script | Functional (optional) | Google LLC | Delivers the automatic translation | Set by Google — see Google's privacy policy |
Strictly necessary storage does not require consent (Art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code). Functional cookies are only set after you accept them, either in the banner or when you choose a language and confirm.
Categories we do not use: analytics, profiling, advertising, social-media tracking.
Embedded and external content
Some pages link to external sites (for example journals, Google Scholar, ResearchGate or partner laboratories). Those sites have their own cookie policies, which apply once you leave this website.
Managing your consent
- Use the Cookie settings button (bottom-left on every page, or in the footer) to accept, reject or adjust preferences at any time.
- Closing the banner with the × without choosing keeps only strictly necessary storage; we will ask again on your next visit.
- You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.
Artificial intelligence
No cookie or storage on this site is used to train AI models, profile you, or make automated decisions about you, consistent with the GDPR and the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689).
