Sofia Pepe is a second-year PhD student in Behavioural Neuroscience at the Department of Psychology, La Sapienza University of Rome. She obtained her master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience with a thesis investigating the relationship between spatial short-term memory, working memory, and temporal perception. She completed her internship at Fondazione Santa Lucia IRCCS in Rome, where she worked on the assessment and rehabilitation of children with neurodevelopmental disorders. Additionally, she is a licensed psychologist registered with the Italian Board of Psychologists. Her research primarily focuses on the mnemonic and attentional components underlying travel planning, which refers to the evaluation of alternative sequences of actions to determine the optimal trajectories and successfully reach a destination, requiring complex cognitive processing and decision-making (Martinet et al., 2011). She is also investigating the social and relational aspects of spatial cognition, as well as the impact of social and spatial anxiety and the influence of the vestibular system on navigation.
